Frank Lloyd Wright in California
There are many FLW houses and public buildings in the state.
Three houses currently have organized tours (with the year they were built noted):
1921 - Aline Barnsdall "Hollyhock" House, 4800 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles. TOUR
1936 - Hanna House, 737 Frenchman's Road, Stanford. TOUR
1957 - Marin County Civic Center, North San Pedro Road, San Rafael. TOUR
1948 - V.C. Morris Gift Store, 140 Maiden Lane, San Francisco
This retail store is open. It is now a clothing store.
1923 - Mabel & Charles Ennis House, 2655 Glendower Avenue, Los Angeles
After damage by earthquake and floods, the house is currently undergoing a substantial renovation and is closed to the public. This is, after Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum, the most recognized FLW building.
The Ennis House has appeared in over 80 movies and television shows, including Blade Runner, Tin Peaks and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The remaining 19 houses and offices in California designed by FLW are privately owned and not opened to the public.
